Silktone Amp 12w 1x12" Guitar Combo
Silktone Amp, made in USA, black. This is really cool, I was so impressed with it. Silktone hand make amps, cabs and pedals in Roseville CA, USA. This model is just called 'amp'... odd name, but what if it's the only amp you'll ever need? It just might be. It's approximately Princeton inspired: 12w output, small-ish format, reverb. But, it's a totally different circuit, running on different valves, with a bigger speaker, switchable wattage and a couple of modes: we're not in Corona anymore, folks. The goal in the design was to retain as much harmonic content as possible, along with reducing noise as low as possible. The results are fantastic: vibrant clear cleans with fat weighty lows and shimmering highs, or creamy luxurious drive brimming with complexity and nuace. Flick the mode to 'raw silk' and you bypass the tone stack and get a gain boost: perfect as a pedal platform at low volume, or an all out wailing crunch if maxed out. The wattage switch might prove handy for some players, although I'm generally in the 'just play loud' camp myself. The spring reverb has both dwell and mix controls, which is a nice touch too as it opens up some options. This is niche, but dang: that's niiice.
