Greco JGB-600 Vintage White 2002

Greco JGB-600, vintage white, made in Japan 2002. Greco was a huge deal in the Japan guitar universe from 1970-95, but even once those boom years were done, they still made some pretty snazzy stuff. This model pops up in the 1997 catalog, although the serial points to a 2002 birthday in this case. It's a cool take on the JG-style bass: nicely balanced offset body, slim J-style neck, P/J pickups. These came with a cool USA-made Hipshot bridge, which is super sturdy and contributes to the abundant natural resonance. The tone is punchy: round and fat on the P pickup, snarly and snappy on the bridge pickup, or nicely balanced with a hi-fi punch on both. This is around half what you'd pay for the Fender Japan equivalent these days, and it's made with a lot of care and attitude.
