Fender Japan Aerodyne Jazz Bass AJB-65 Black 2004
Fender Aerodyne Jazz, black, made in Japan 2004-5. This model was a big hit for Fender Japan, they did really well for a bit there, and it's no wonder why. It's a good recipe: take the vintage style Jazz Bass, add a slick carved top, cream binding, a P/J pickup set and some cool chrome top hat knobs, and you get the slick and shiny Aerodyne. It's got a slim, quick, satin finished neck and is pretty light, so it feels great in the hands. The tone is punchy and modern, a little more scooped and immediate than a vintage style J or P, but very enjoyable in it's own way. This one has a few knocks and marks, which is A-OK with me. Aerodyne = just fine.
