Duesenberg Starplayer TV, silver sparkle, made in Germany 2000. This is quite a majestic beast! The Starplayer TV is Duesenberg's most popular and iconic model, it's easy to see why they're so desirable. The silver sparkle finish on this one is sublime; it's yellowed slightly over the years to a soft almost-gold hue and looks superb. The back features some book-matched flame maple, on show under a sweet black-burst finish. The art-deco styling is pretty unique; these have a 'thing' all of their own. The tone is precise, hi-fidelity and warm; there's a balance of crispness and a big, full body. The Domino P90 has got to be one of the best neck pickups going around; it's creamy and thick with a defined attack and presence. The bridge humbucker slices through a mix gracefully, never harsh but assertively crunchy. The moderately slim neck has a familiar vintage round profile; you can really feel the precision and love that goes into the build on this. This will easily match any and all comers for quality and feel; it's very lively and satisfying in the hands. A brand new sparkle finish Starplayer TV would set you back $4k-ish, so grabbing this early-in-the-story model in very shiny condition is a very thrifty option. Remember to bring a towel to gigs to mop up the drool from the floor, this is sure to enchant the masses!
