Gibson Melody Maker LP, open pore satin black, made in USA 2009. The Melody Maker came out in the late 50s as a super-trimmed down version of the Les Paul, aimed initially at the student market. This dates to 2009, when the model was briefly re-booted as part of the very fun Faded Series offerings. It's super thin and light: at 2.6kg, it's a good kilogram lighter than a typical Strat, let alone a Les. The neck is agreeable too, not super slim but not super fat, and carved to an agreeable generous C shape. The single bridge single coil is simple and effective: heaps of attack and bark, punchy mids and plenty of slice on top. It sounds, for all intents and purposes, like a fat and snarly Telecaster on the bridge setting. The finish is designed to wear, like a pair of jeans, so it's glossing up in high contact spots and showing some of the red-brown of the mahogany under the hood; it looks super cool. Very punk, many good.
