Fender So-Cal Strat, made in Korea 2005, speedster red and white. In the mid 00s, Fender did a one off Custom Shop Masterbuilt Strat that was inspired by Burbank California Institution So Cal Speed Shop, an iconic seller of hot rod parts. They then went on to make a limited run of guitars in the same style out of Korea, where Fender was making a few models including their FMT neck-thru Telecaster, the Showmaster Superstrat and the Jim Adkins signature. It looks mega: that stripe running all the way up into the board is awesome, it's such a wild look. I'm not exactly sure how this became as dinged up as it did, but it's certainly seen some things, so it's priced accordingly. The original pickup is missing, but it got a fun Duncan Phat Cat, which sounds great. It's perfect for punk and grunge stuff, with heaps of attack and snap, but it also cleans up remarkably well with the volume rolled off a little. Don't count on seeing another one around here any time soon!
