Pratley Classic Concert Blackwood 2024

Pratley Classic Series Concert, all solid blackwood, made in Australia 2024. We had this guitar through the shop brand new a year or two ago, and it's come home for a visit after a couple of trade deals. It's nice to have it back, it's a lovely guitar. The top, back and sides are all made from solid Tasmanian blackwood, which sets many hearts aflutter with it's dark, detailed grain lines. Blackwood is an acacia family species, counting among it's relatives Hawaii's famous koa trees. The tonal profile is similar to koa: bright and tight through the mids, understated tuneful fast bass, very articulate and sweet on the top end. The snappy clear voice of the blackwood pairs well with the natural balance and roundness of the concert body size: it's similar to a Martin 00 or Maton 808, so it sits nicely in your lap. The small body is complemented by the clever neck join, so even without a cutaway you can reach the top frets with ease. This is a perfect working guitar for a busy player, with a powerful and articulate natural voice and a quality preamp on deck to get the sound our far and wide. Nice one Martin, you did great.
